Paint Creek Trail

Ran 6 miles today. Foot was sore from 3 races so I rested, fine today. Ran last 2 1/2 with Russian woman - young and blonde. She tried to get secrets from me but all I would talk about was converting her to a heel striker!

We have talked about going up to Frankenmuth early and seeing the fireworks the night before and finally did it. We met my son's and daughter's families for dinner Friday night in Frankenmuth at Zenders, watched the fireworks, got to the hotel just before midnight, and got up early for the 10k. Jerry and I decided to run the 1ok with Sean, because he was not training and couldn't do the 20k. We were glad we did. It was cool at the start, but warmed up fast. As we left we could see the 20k runners come in and they looked frazzled.
Sean ran with me and I kept a slow steady pace. The course was hilly. A policeman held up traffic and there was a long line of cars we were passing when a disgruntled old lady pulled out and was passing the line. Then a young woman tried the same and hit the vehicle in front of her and kept hitting it.Bizarre!
We picked up the pace in the last mile and as I was coming down the last hill, the Hanson runners were walking up. I had my Hanson singlet on and they yelled "Go Hanson!" And, Brian Sell? At the bottom of the hill, Keith Hanson high fived me!! Pretty cool for an old guy!
The announcer said Sean's name as we crossed the finish line and Jerry was 5th in age group, 90 seconds from third place and a stein.
